OUR STORY
Rooted in a love of horses.
Long before Lake Oconee Equestrian had a name, horses were becoming an important part of Renee and Till von Ruexleben’s story. Originally from Germany, their lives eventually brought them to the United States and, in time, to Lake Oconee.
They were drawn to the beauty of the land, the open air, and a way of life that felt right for raising their family. Lake Oconee became home, and with it came the opportunity to finally make horses part of everyday life. Their first horse, Mrs. Promise, opened the door to something much bigger.
The more Renee and Till learned, the deeper that connection grew. Horses brought joy and belonging, but also an appreciation for the patience, care, and responsibility that comes with truly knowing them. In 2024, that shared passion became Lake Oconee Equestrian.
Today, the property reflects what drew them to horses in the first place: the chance to slow down, spend time outdoors, keep learning, and share something meaningful with others who feel the same way.
TODAY
A vision brought to life.
What began with one horse and a shared passion has grown into 155 acres dedicated to horses, the people who love them, and the experiences that bring them together.
And while Lake Oconee Equestrian continues to grow, the love of horses that started it all is still at the heart of the property.
